Data SGP for Educators and Data Teams

Data SGP (Student Growth Percentile) is used by educators, data teams and administrators to track student academic growth over time. It measures progress as students develop new skills over time; its measurement also serves to inform instruction and drive performance improvement for individual students.

SGPs are calculated by comparing a student’s current assessment score with those of their academic peers, who can be identified using quantile regression and placed onto a normative scale. Academic peers may come from any demographic group including gender, ethnicity or special education programs (e.g. sheltered English immersion) but don’t need to attend the same school.

Educators can use Student Growth Progression data to track student progress in individual subjects, compare achievement across schools and analyze a student’s growth trajectory over time. SGP data also assists educators and school administrators in identifying areas where additional resources may be necessary for supporting student success – for instance if one subject area shows low SGP scores it could indicate additional instruction is necessary in that subject area.

The SGPdata package contains four sample data sets to be used with SGP analyses. sgpData specifies data in a WIDE format used by lower level SGP functions studentGrowthPercentiles and studentGrowthProjections; while sgptData and sgptData_LONG contain LONG format used by higher-level functions like abcSGP, prepareSGP, and analyzeSGP.

These four data sets offer various context and sample size options to assist the development of SGP analyses. You can access them by clicking “data” on the SGP dashboard, with each CSV and JSON format file ready to import directly into knowledge bases using its appropriate button.

The SGP dashboard is an intuitive tool designed to give users access to the latest data and charts related to any SGP-based analysis, quickly allowing users to identify key trends or patterns in their data quickly. Furthermore, this tool supports customized visualization tools that can be configured according to individual user needs as well as flexible search capabilities for quickly finding and filtering results – particularly useful when working with large amounts of information. Using an SGP dashboard is a great way to get started with analytics – plus making sharing results with others much easier!
